John Troupe, MD

Dr. John Troupe is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and new member of the faculty. His background includes the delivery of care in military, private solo and private group practices. An experienced educator, he has successfully served as a residency program director and interim, department chair.
Since graduating from the University of Tennessee, he served as a medical officer with the US Navy Pacific submarine fleet, completed residency at Naval Hospital San Diego, and received his juris doctorate. In addition to his clinical interests in clinical and surgical teaching, he leads discussion groups in ethics, professionalism and system-based practice. He is the acting Chief of Ophthalmology for the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System.
