ANNUAL ALUMNI/RESIDENT RESEARCH DAY JUNE 17TH, 2011
50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF OPHTHALMOLOGY MARCH 23RD-24TH, 2012
The University of Florida Department of Ophthalmology would like to welcome you to our Alumni website.
Please join us at the upcoming annual Resident and Alumni Research Day that will be held on June 17, 2011. We have a number of alumni who will be speaking in the morning including Dr. Lance Forstot, who will present the 4th annual Frank Polack, MD lectureship and Dr. Maher Fanous who will present the 2nd annual Bill Doyle, MD lectureship. The residents and fellows will present their research projects following these talks. I hope you can join us for these presentations as well as the graduation dinner that evening at the Best Western Hotel.
We would also like to invite you to join us for a very special occasion next year. Dr. Herbert Kaufman came to the University of Florida to create our department in 1962. We will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his arrival on March 23rd-24th, 2012. We will start with a full day of scientific programs on March 23rd at the University Hilton followed by a reception at the Presidents’ House that evening. Social events will be scheduled for you and your families Saturday, March 24th with a gala celebration held the evening of March 24th at Emerson Hall on the University of Florida campus. Please save these dates. Further information will follow and will be posted on our website.
We have set up a secure alumni portal on our website under the ALUMNI tab. It has a networking site to connect with old friends and classmates. Please send us your updated contact information via this link, Alumni Information Sheet, so that we can send you the login information.
To support the department’s alumni efforts, we are asking each alumnus to contribute $100 annually for membership in the UF Ophthalmology Alumni Association. Membership provides you with notification of social events, free CME and food at educational events, a drink voucher and exclusive gift at the AAO alumni event, and complimentary dinner at the annual resident graduation.
We would also encourage you to support our residency program, cutting edge research, and continuing excellent care of our patients by contributing to the department through the UF foundation. You can access these funds and learn more about them by clicking this link for the UF Ophthalmology Alumni Association. Please also indicate whether you would like us to recognize your contributions on the department website. You can also make a tremendous difference to future generations of trainees and patients by establishing a named fund with perpetual support.
